EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
The educational programs at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine provide post-doctoral fellows, research fellows, graduate and undergraduate students with hands-on experience in translational research.
The Institute's unique learning and training environment uses core technologies that are germane to biomedical research, in addition to many that are specifically applied to regenerative medicine. Research fellows, post-doctoral fellows and graduate students develop the ability to conduct independent, hypothesis-driven research through application of these core and specific technologies to individual projects. Special attention is paid to the promotion of high ethical standards in all research and personal interactions.

The Institute strives to constantly improve the quality of its educational training program and regularly evaluates and develops its program content to meet each individual's training needs. For example, the Institute supports students through a scholarship program that provides research opportunities for undergraduate students with an interest in regenerative medicine. The main objectives are to expose students to a multidisciplinary research environment that is driven by clinical needs, to provide training in a strong team environment, and to facilitate the education of the next generation of scientists and clinicians in the field of regenerative medicine. There are four mechanisms by which students can conduct research in the WFIRM labs: as a direct-hire postdoctoral fellow (click here for a listing of current postdoctoral openings), as a research or clinical fellow supported by the home department or institution, as a work-study student (Wake Forest University undergraduates only) or undergraduate Summer Scholar, or as a graduate student of Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Currently, students enrolled in the Molecular Medicine, Molecular Genetics, and Biomedical Engineering graduate programs are eligible to conduct their thesis research at the Institute.

COMMUNITY LECTURE SERIES
The Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine emphasizes the dissemination of scientific knowledge into the community. Faculty members of the Institute actively participate in local and national scientific lectures. more...
